Columbia is a planned community in Howard County developed by James Rouse beginning in 1967. It is organized into ten villages, including Wilde Lake, Harper's Choice, Oakland Mills and River Hill, each with its own village center, pathways and lakes.
Route 29 and I-95 connect Columbia to Baltimore and Washington, and Merriweather Post Pavilion anchors the downtown area. Most homes pay an annual charge to the Columbia Association, and many neighborhoods have architectural covenants, so buyers often ask about assessments and exterior change approvals.
